Oh My Dolls! Museum: Scribbles Doll
Here we have an interesting doll
Name: Scribbles
Year: 1971 - 1972
Manufacturer: Ideal
Accessories: plastic easel style "chalk board", chalk
Information and description: This doll is not remembered by a lot of people. There were several variations of this doll. They had soft cloth bodies, except for their hands which were formed plastic. I believe they all had yarn hair. This one pictured is in my current collection but she was not my personal doll from childhood. My doll had orange "curly" yarn hair. I don't know what other colors were available. I found this one on ebay. They don't come up too often.
The doll's gimmick was that you could put your finger into hers and write on her chalk board, which was a cheap plastic easel with a black film of some kind over it. She wrote much better on a real chalk board or green board. Today, I can barely get my finger into the hole, but she is still a fun doll for my collection. The value of this doll is unknown, but I would ask no less than $15 for this one on auction, which is about what I paid.
If you know anything about this doll or have one you would like to submit photos of for inclusion into this page, let me know by contacting me here.
